Item: E2000 Core Memory
Title: [CORE-1] $40.00
Here is a Burroughs E2000 Core Memory Board.
This item used, in unknown condition and is sold as is, no return.
The memory is arranged as 52 by 52 cores (2704 bits).
The E2000 core memory was used in the 1970s Burroughs E2000 computer.
It was one of the last computers to use core memory.
By the 1970s, solid state memory was rapidly overtaking the use of core memory as solid state was much cheaper,
much smaller, much faster and much larger storage capability when compared to core memory.
The only real advantage core memory had was non-volitile storage, it retained the memory even when power was off
and to withstand the rigors of radiation hazards in space (which is why it was used on the space shuttle).
