Title: Rare! GE Engineering samples of a custom Z-2300 tube
Item: [Z2300] $100.00
Here is a box of three GE Engineering tube samples of a custom Z-2300 tube.
These three tubes are being sold as a set.
The boxed set comes with a curve trace showing the characteristics of the tubes.
The back of the curve trace chart has the tube pinout written in pencil.
The tubes appear to be a power triode that can handle 180ma of current at 90V, or 80mA at 150V.
Maximum rating appears to be 40mA at 190V. The plate is rated for 7Watts according to a note on the chart.
Filament voltage is 6.3V. The grid has two pin connections.
There are two plates, but they are tied together at the top of the tube, so that makes this a triode.
Each of plate has two pin connections for a total of four plate pin connections.
Since there is only a single cathode pin, the plate pins are probably primarily for support of the plates.
The plates are tied together at the top of the tube with a wire support that also holds the halo getter.
The gold wire grid is supported on copper posts.
The grid is supported by both double stuff mica washers and a grid clip at the top of the tube.
The grid clip is an enclosed box, so it also acts as a shield from the getter flash to prevent the flash from getting into the cathode area when the getter is flashed during the final manufacturing step.
Each of the three tubes has a GE Engineering Sample label stating that the tube is type Z-2300 from lot AT2-5.
The lot number is also marked on the plate inside the tube.
The curve trace chart shows a very nice linear action in the range of:
These tubes would make a very nice one-of-a-kind amplifier.
